Details for Assam Direct Recruitment Syllabus 2024:
Class-IV:
There shall be two separate categories of written examinations-
- for Posts/categories of Posts for Reading up to Class VIII category and
- for Posts/categories of Posts for HSLC (Class Ten) passed or equivalent examination passed category including HSLC (Class Ten) passed or equivalent examination passed along-with ITI pass certificate in the trade of Wireman/Electrician/Fitter/Welder/Machinist/Electronics mechanic from Govt. of Assam approved institute.
- The syllabus of the written examinations for recruitment to the Class-IV Posts shall agree with the Elementary School Pass Level examination of SCERT for Read up to Class VIII category and High School Level Certificate Examination of Board of Secondary Education, Assam for HSLC (Class Ten) passed or equivalent examination passed category including HSLC (Class Ten) passed or equivalent examination passed along-with ITI pass certificate in the trade of Wireman/Electrician/Fitter/Welder/Machinist/Electronics mechanic from Govt. of Assam approved institute.
The subjects for both the categories of written examinations will be as listed below:
- English
- Social Studies
- Mathematics
- General Knowledge
- Mental Ability and Logical Reasoning
- The medium of language in Question papers will be Assamese, Bengali, English, Boro, and Hindi.
- There will be 135 multiple choice questions, carrying 1 (one mark) each, to be attempted in 2 hours 30 minutes (150 minutes).
- Only one answer will be the correct answer for each question.
- Negative marks of 0.25 will be awarded for each incorrect answer.
Class-III:
For Bachelor’s Degree level posts:

- The Question paper in each level will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) only and for every question, there will be only one correct answer to be chosen from the given options.
- The number of questions mentioned in the above tables for different subjects or topics are indicative and approximate. The number of questions in the question paper may vary slightly, but the total number of questions will remain 150 only.
- There will be negative markings for wrong answers. The negative marking to be awarded for each wrong answer will be equivalent to 1/4th of the mark(s) allotted for that question. For example, a negative mark for the wrong answer to a question carrying 1 mark will be 0.25. Similarly, a negative mark for the wrong answer to a question carrying 2 marks will be 0.50.
- Question papers will be in the following languages – Assamese, Bengali, English, Bodo and Hindi.
