Age Limit:
Age limits differ by post and category. Candidates wondering about age relaxation can note that PwBD candidates receive an additionalย 10 yearsย of relaxation over and above the prescribed upper age limit, and the maximum age for PwBD candidates shall not exceedย 56 yearsย in any case. Ex-Servicemen and Central Government servants are also entitled to age relaxation as per Central Government rules.

General Age Relaxation Rules
- OBC candidates:ย 3 years relaxation over the UR upper age limit.
- SC/ST candidates:ย 5 yearsโ relaxation over the UR upper age limit.
- PwBD (UR):ย 10 years; PwBD (OBC): 13 years; PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years. Maximum age cap: 56 years.
- Ex-Servicemen:ย 5 years relaxation, subject to the condition that continuous service rendered is not less than 6 months after attestation as on the closing date.
- Central/UT Government Servants:ย Up to 5 years, subject to 3 years of continuous regular service in the same line or allied cadre.
Application Fee:
The application fee for UPSC Advertisement 07/2026 is nominal atย โน25 (Rupees Twenty-Five only)ย for General, OBC, and EWS male candidates. Female candidates of all categories, as well as SC, ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) candidates, areย fully exempted from payment of fee. The fee can be paid online using Visa, Mastercard, or RuPay credit/debit cards, UPI, or internet banking of any bank.

Important: Applications submitted without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected. Fee once paid is non-refundable and cannot be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
Selection Process:
The selection process for UPSC Advertisement No. 07/2026 varies by post. For most posts, it consists of shortlisting based on the online application, followed by a Recruitment Test (RT) or Combined Recruitment Test (CRT) if warranted, and then a Personality Test (Interview). Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on the information provided in their online application and their performance in the RT, if held.

- Shortlisting:ย UPSC shortlists candidates on the basis of information provided in the online application. Incorrect information may lead to rejection through computer-based shortlisting.

The test is ordinarily conducted at the following centres: Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Dispur (Guwahati), Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair, Ranchi, and Visakhapatnam.
- Personality Test / Interview:ย Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview. Candidates must bring the printout of their online application and all original/self-attested copies of supporting documents.
- Final Selection and Appointment:ย Appointment orders are issued by the respective Ministry/Department. UPSC may grant higher initial pay to candidates adjudged meritorious at the interview stage.
Salary & Pay Scale (7th CPC Pay Matrix):
Selected candidates will receive pay as per the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix. The pay level ranges from Level-7 for posts such as Company Prosecutor and Photographic Officer to Level-11 (with NPA) for medical Specialist Grade III posts. In addition to basic pay, candidates are entitled to Dearness Allowance, HRA, and other admissible allowances as per Central Government rules.
