SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026 (SSC CHSL 2026). Through this examination, SSC will recruit candidates for Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO), and Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’ posts in various Ministries, Departments and Offices of the Government of India.

According to the official notification, approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies are available. Online applications started on 7 September 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications until 7 October 2026 at 11:00 PM.

Candidates who have passed the 12th Standard (10+2) or equivalent examination can apply, subject to the post-specific educational requirements. Vacancy Details:

A total of approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies have been announced under SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026.

The recruitment will be conducted for the following Group C posts:

• Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)
• Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
• Data Entry Operator (DEO)
• Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’

The final vacancy distribution will be released by SSC after receiving and scrutinising vacancy details from the participating departments.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must satisfy the prescribed nationality, age and educational qualification requirements before submitting the application.

Educational Qualification

• For LDC/JSA and most DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ Posts

Candidates must have passed:

12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognised Board or University.

• For Certain DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ Posts

For DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts in the:

• Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution
• Staff Selection Commission
• Ministry of Culture

Candidates must have passed 12th Standard in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognised Board or equivalent.

Candidates who have appeared for their Class 12 examination may also apply, provided they obtain the required qualification on or before 7 October 2026.

Age Limit:

The age of candidates will be calculated as on 1 August 2026.

Candidates must have been born:

• Not before: 2 August 1999
• Not later than: 1 August 2008

Age Relaxation

Application Fee:

The application fee is: ₹100

The following candidates are exempted from paying the application fee:

• Women candidates
• SC candidates
• ST candidates
• PwBD candidates
• Eligible Ex-Servicemen

The fee can be paid online through:

The last date for payment of the application fee is 8 October 2026 at 11:00 PM.

Application Correction Fee:

The application correction window will remain open from:

14 October to 16 October 2026, up to 11:00 PM.

Candidates will be allowed to modify and resubmit their application a maximum of two times.

Correction charges are applicable to all candidates regardless of category or gender.

Selection Process:

The SSC CHSL selection process consists mainly of:

1. Tier-I Computer Based Examination
2. Tier-II Computer-Based Examination
3. Skill Test/Typing Test, as applicable
4. Document Verification by the concerned department

Tier-I is used to shortlist candidates for Tier-II, while final merit is prepared mainly based on performance in the relevant sections of Tier-II, subject to qualifying the prescribed tests.

Tier-I Exam Pattern:

Tier-I will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions.

Duration

60 Minutes

There will be a sectional timer of 15 minutes for each subject.

Negative Marking

0.50 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Tier-II Exam Pattern:

Tier-II will contain four sections and will be conducted in two sessions on the same day.

The Computer Knowledge Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature.

Section-IV

Section-IV consists of the Skill Test/Typing Test, depending on the post.

There will be 1 mark of negative marking for every wrong answer in Sections I, II and III of Tier-II.

DEO Skill Test

For specified DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, candidates will need a data-entry speed of:

15,000 key depressions per hour

For other DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, the required data-entry speed is:

8,000 key depressions per hour

The Skill Test duration is generally 15 minutes.

LDC/JSA Typing Test

Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-II based on their Tier-I performance. Final selection will be based on Tier-II performance and the post preferences exercised by candidates.

Applications for SSC CHSL 2026 must be submitted online only through the official SSC website or the mySSC mobile application.

Follow these steps:

2. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) if you have not already registered on the new SSC website.
3. Log in using your registration credentials.
4. Find the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026 application link.
5. Fill in all required personal, educational and communication details.
6. Select your preferred examination centres.
7. Capture your photograph through the application module as instructed.
8. Upload your signature and other required documents.
9. Pay the application fee, if applicable.
10. Preview the application carefully.
11. Submit the application form.
12. Save or print a copy of the submitted application for future reference.

SSC has clarified that OTR created on its old website will not work on the new website; candidates who have not registered on the new portal must complete a fresh OTR.
