The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced the RRB NTPC Undergraduate Recruitment 2026 under Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 07/2026. This recruitment drive invites online applications for 1,688 vacancies in various Non-Technical Popular Categories (Undergraduate) posts across Indian Railways.

Post-Wise Vacancy Details

A total of 1,688 vacancies have been announced under CEN No. 07/2026 for four undergraduate-level posts.

The detailed Railway Recruitment Board-wise and Railway Zone-wise vacancy distribution is provided in Annexure B of the official notification. Candidates should check the vacancy table before selecting their RRB and post preferences.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess the prescribed educational qualification from a recognized board, university or institution by the application closing date.

The notification specifies Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent qualification with at least 50% aggregate marks for the notified undergraduate posts, subject to the exceptions specified in the notification.

The requirement of 50% marks is not insisted upon for SC/ST candidates, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, Ex-Servicemen and candidates possessing qualifications higher than Class 12.

Candidates awaiting the results of their final qualifying examination are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

The age limit for the notified undergraduate posts is 18 to 30 years as on 1 January 2027, subject to the applicable category-wise age relaxation.

Age Relaxation

Additional age-related provisions apply to eligible Ex-Servicemen, certain Railway employees and other categories specified in the notification. Candidates should refer to the official age-relaxation rules and provide the required supporting documents.

Application Fee

The application fee depends on the candidate’s category.

The refund is available only to candidates who appear in the first-stage Computer Based Test (CBT), subject to the notification’s conditions and applicable bank charges.

The examination fee must be paid online through the permitted payment methods, including internet banking, debit card, credit card or UPI.

Important: EBC, EWS and OBC are three distinct categories. EBC status under this notification provides an examination-fee concession and does not, by itself, provide reservation in employment.

Salary

The initial basic pay varies according to the post and the applicable 7th Central Pay Commission pay level.

The figures above represent initial basic pay, not the complete monthly salary. Actual earnings may include admissible allowances and deductions according to applicable Railway rules.

Selection Process

The selection process for RRB NTPC Undergraduate Recruitment 2026 includes the following stages, as applicable to the post:

1. First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 1): The initial screening examination for all notified posts.
2. Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 2): Candidates are shortlisted based on their normalized CBT 1 marks and merit.
3. Typing Skill Test: Applicable to the Accounts Clerk Cum Typist and Junior Clerk Cum Typist posts.
4. Document Verification: Original educational, age, category and other relevant certificates are verified.
5. Medical Examination: Candidates must meet the prescribed medical fitness standards for their opted posts.

The first-stage CBT is primarily a screening test. The final allocation depends on merit, post preferences, applicable reservation, vacancy availability, qualifying requirements and medical fitness.

Exam Pattern

CBT 1 Exam Pattern

• Examination duration: 90 minutes.
• Question type: Objective multiple-choice questions.
• Negative marking: One-third of a mark for every incorrect answer.
• Eligible PwBD candidates using a scribe receive 120 minutes, subject to the prescribed rules.

CBT 2 Exam Pattern

• Examination duration: 90 minutes.
• Eligible PwBD candidates using a scribe receive 120 minutes.
• Negative marking: One-third of a mark for every incorrect answer.

The subject-wise question distribution is indicative and may vary in the actual examination.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The notification provides for a possible relaxation of two marks for PwBD candidates in the specified circumstances involving a shortage of suitable candidates against reserved vacancies.
