Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the prescribed educational qualification and age requirements as on 1 October 2026.

Educational Qualification

The required qualification differs according to the discipline.

  • Finance (CA & CMA):
    • Candidates must be Chartered Accountants from ICAI or Cost and Management Accountants from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, along with graduation/post-graduation in any discipline with at least 60% marks. The minimum is 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
  • Legal:
    • Graduate or postgraduate degree in Law from a recognised university with at least 60% marks, or 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
  • Information Technology:
    • B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. in Computer Science/Information Technology or MCA with the prescribed percentage.
  • Automobile Engineers:
    • B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. in Automobile Engineering, or an engineering degree in another branch along with at least a one-year diploma in Automobile Engineering.
  • Risk Engineers:
    • Engineering graduation/post-graduation in any discipline other than the specified IT and Automobile Engineering disciplines, with the prescribed percentage.
  • Company Secretaries:
    • ACS/FCS from ICSI along with graduation/post-graduation in any discipline.
  • Agriculture:
    • Four-year graduation or postgraduate qualification in Agriculture, Agricultural Biotechnology or Agricultural Engineering.
  • Generalist Officers:
    • Graduate or postgraduate in any stream from a recognised university with at least 60% marks, or 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

The qualification must be from a recognised Indian university/institution approved by the relevant authorities. Candidates must possess the required degree or marksheet by 1 October 2026.

Cumulative relaxation may be available in certain cases, subject to the maximum age limit of 45 years. Candidates claiming relaxation must produce the required certificates during the recruitment process.


Salary

The starting basic pay for NICL Administrative Officers is โ‚น82,485 per month in the prescribed scale of pay.

According to the notification, the total emoluments are approximately โ‚น1,14,000 per month in metropolitan centres. Officers are also eligible for benefits such as pension under the New Pension Scheme, gratuity, LTS, medical benefits, group personal accident insurance and company/leased accommodation as per applicable rules.

Exam Pattern

The NICL AO selection examination is conducted in two online phases.

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination applies to all disciplines. It consists of 100 objective questions for 100 marks, with a total duration of 60 minutes.

Each section is separately timed. English is conducted in English, while Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude are available in English and Hindi.

Phase-II: Main Examination

Specialist candidates have an additional technical/professional knowledge section related to their respective discipline.

Descriptive English Test

The descriptive test carries 30 marks and has a duration of 30 minutes.

It includes:

  • Comprehension โ€“ 10 marks

The test is conducted online in English. It is qualifying in nature, and its marks are not counted for shortlisting for the Interview or final selection.

Negative Marking

There is a penalty for wrong answers in the objective tests of both Phase-I and Phase-II. One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for an incorrect answer.

No penalty is imposed when a question is left unanswered.


Selection Process
