MHRB Recruitment 2026: The Medical and Health Recruitment Board (MHRB), Assam, has released a revised recruitment advertisement for 599 Registrar, Demonstrator, Resident Physician and related posts in various departments of Government Medical Colleges under the Medical Education & Research Department, Government of Assam.

This advertisement cancels the earlier notification No. MHRB/72/Faculty/2026/5004 dated 13 July 2026. Eligible Indian citizens having the required medical qualifications and registration can submit their applications online through the NHM Assam recruitment portal.

Educational Qualification

Broad Speciality

• Candidates should possess a Postgraduate MD/MS/DNB qualification in the concerned subject from an institution under an Indian university recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC), formerly MCI, or National Board of Education (NBE).

• This requirement applies to departments including:
• Anaesthesiology, Dermatology, ENT, Emergency Medicine, FSM, Medicine, Microbiology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, O&G, Pharmacology, Pathology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, PM&R, Radiodiagnosis, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, SPM/Community Medicine, TB & Chest/Pulmonary Medicine and Nuclear Medicine.

Anatomy

• Candidates must possess either:
  • MS (Anatomy), or
    M.Sc. (Medical Anatomy) with PhD in Medical Anatomy.

Biochemistry

• Candidates must possess either:
  • MD (Biochemistry), or
    M.Sc. (Medical Biochemistry) with PhD in Medical Biochemistry.

Physiology

• Candidates must possess either:
  • MD (Physiology), or
    M.Sc. (Medical Physiology) with PhD in Medical Physiology.

Super Speciality Qualification

• For Medical Super Speciality departments such as Cardiology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Nephrology and Medical Oncology, candidates should have an MD/DNB in General Medicine.
• For Surgical Super Speciality departments including Plastic Surgery, CTVS, Neuro Surgery, Urology and Paediatric Surgery, candidates should possess an MS/DNB in General Surgery.
• Candidates holding DM/M.Ch./DNB in the concerned super-speciality subject will receive preference or weightage.

Medical Registration

• Applicants must possess the required registration under the Assam Council of Medical Registration, Medical Council of India, or National Medical Commission, as applicable.

Weightage for Experienced Doctors

• Weightage will be provided to doctors working under Rule 17A of MHRB Regulations or under contractual engagements in healthcare institutions under the Medical Education & Research Department, including post-PG contractual engagements.
• Doctors serving under DME, DHS, NHM Assam and other Government agencies are also eligible to apply, and no separate NOC from the State Government is required for applying.

Age Limit:

Candidates must satisfy the following age criteria as on 1 January 2026:

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 45 years

Persons with Disabilities are eligible for an upper-age relaxation of 10 years, irrespective of whether they belong to SC, ST, OBC or General category.

Application Fee:

The fee can be deposited through a Treasury Challan under the specified Head of Account or online through the Government Receipt Accounting System (GRAS).

Candidates paying through GRAS must submit the printed Treasury Challan during document scrutiny. The application fee is non-refundable.

Salary:

Selected candidates will receive a pay scale of:

₹57,700 – ₹1,82,400 per month, Academic Level 10, along with other allowances admissible under applicable government rules.

Selection Process

The exact selection procedure has not yet been announced.

MHRB Assam will issue a separate notice regarding the recruitment procedure. The Board will decide the selection method depending on the number of applications received.
