Educational Qualification
Broad Speciality
- Candidates should possess a Postgraduate MD/MS/DNB qualification in the concerned subject from an institution under an Indian university recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC), formerly MCI, or National Board of Education (NBE).
- This requirement applies to departments including:
- Anaesthesiology, Dermatology, ENT, Emergency Medicine, FSM, Medicine, Microbiology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, O&G, Pharmacology, Pathology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, PM&R, Radiodiagnosis, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, SPM/Community Medicine, TB & Chest/Pulmonary Medicine and Nuclear Medicine.
Anatomy
- Candidates must possess either:
- MS (Anatomy), or
M.Sc. (Medical Anatomy) with PhD in Medical Anatomy.
- MS (Anatomy), or
Biochemistry
- Candidates must possess either:
- MD (Biochemistry), or
M.Sc. (Medical Biochemistry) with PhD in Medical Biochemistry.

Physiology
- Candidates must possess either:

Super Speciality Qualification
- For Medical Super Speciality departments such as Cardiology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Nephrology and Medical Oncology, candidates should have an MD/DNB in General Medicine.
- For Surgical Super Speciality departments including Plastic Surgery, CTVS, Neuro Surgery, Urology and Paediatric Surgery, candidates should possess an MS/DNB in General Surgery.
- Candidates holding DM/M.Ch./DNB in the concerned super-speciality subject will receive preference or weightage.
Medical Registration
- Applicants must possess the required registration under the Assam Council of Medical Registration, Medical Council of India, or National Medical Commission, as applicable.
Weightage for Experienced Doctors
- Weightage will be provided to doctors working under Rule 17A of MHRB Regulations or under contractual engagements in healthcare institutions under the Medical Education & Research Department, including post-PG contractual engagements.
- Doctors serving under DME, DHS, NHM Assam and other Government agencies are also eligible to apply, and no separate NOC from the State Government is required for applying.
Age Limit:
Candidates must satisfy the following age criteria as on 1 January 2026:
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 45 years
Persons with Disabilities are eligible for an upper-age relaxation of 10 years, irrespective of whether they belong to SC, ST, OBC or General category.
