ITBP Medical Officer Recruitment 2026: The Directorate General, Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released an advertisement for recruitment to Group ‘A’ Medical Officer posts under the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles.

The recruitment is being conducted through the Central Armed Police Forces Medical Officer Selection Board-2025. Eligible Indian citizens, both male and female, can apply for the posts of Super Specialist Medical Officer (Second-in-Command), Specialist Medical Officer (Deputy Commandant), and Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant).

Educational Qualification

Super Specialist Medical Officer (Second-in-Command)

Candidates applying for the Super Specialist Medical Officer post must have:

• An MBBS degree or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized university/institution.
• Enrollment in a State Medical Register.
• Completion of compulsory rotating internship.
• A relevant Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in the concerned speciality.
• DM/M.Ch. or equivalent qualification in the concerned super-speciality.
• Three years of experience in the concerned super-speciality after obtaining the first postgraduate degree.
• Senior Residency experience is also counted towards the required experience.
• Permanent registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council before appointment.

Specialist Medical Officer (Deputy Commandant)

Candidates must have:

• A recognized medical qualification in the Allopathic system of medicine.
• Permanent registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council before appointment.
• Completion of compulsory rotating internship.
• Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in the concerned speciality.
• 1½ years of experience in the concerned speciality after a PG Degree, or 2½ years of experience after a PG Diploma.

Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant)

Candidates must have:

• A recognized medical qualification in the Allopathic system of medicine.
• Permanent registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council before appointment.
• Completion of compulsory rotating internship.

Candidates who are undergoing their compulsory rotating internship may also apply and appear for the interview, provided they satisfactorily complete the internship before appointment.

Age Limit

The age limit is post-wise:

• Super Specialist Medical Officer (Second-in-Command): Maximum 50 years
• Specialist Medical Officer (Deputy Commandant): Maximum 40 years
• Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant): Maximum 30 years

The age is calculated as per the cut-off date specified in the detailed recruitment advertisement. Candidates should check the official notification for applicable age relaxation for reserved categories and other eligible groups.

Selection Process

The recruitment process includes an Interview and Medical Examination as prescribed in the advertisement.

The Medical Officer Selection Board will prepare the merit list based on the aggregate marks awarded to candidates during the interview. Separate merit lists will also be prepared for SC/ST, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates.

Candidates must also be found medically fit by the prescribed Medical Board.

Medical Examination

Selection is subject to the candidate being declared medically fit according to the medical guidelines applicable to direct recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles.

Candidates declared unfit during the Medical Examination Test (MET) may be allowed to undergo a Review Medical Examination (RME), subject to the prescribed procedure and submission of consent within the specified time.

Application Fee

The application fee is ₹400 for eligible male candidates belonging to the General/UR, OBC and EWS categories.

The fee must be paid through the prescribed online payment gateway. Fee paid through any other mode will not be accepted, and the application may be rejected.
