ITBP Head Constable Recruitment 2026: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released an official recruitment notification for the post of Head Constable (Education & Stress Counsellor) 2026. A total of 16 vacancies are available for eligible male and female candidates. Applications will be accepted through online mode only.

Vacancy Details

ITBP has announced 16 vacancies for Head Constable (Education & Stress Counsellor).

The vacancies are tentative and may increase or decrease. The notification also states that 10% of vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen in the respective post/category. 359

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess either of the following qualifications:

• A degree from a recognized university or equivalent with Psychology as a subject, or
• A degree from a recognized university with Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Bachelor of Teaching, or equivalent qualification.

Age Limit

• Candidates should be aged between 20 and 25 years
• The crucial date for calculating age is 27 October 2026.
• Candidates should not have been born earlier than 28 October 2001 and later than 27 October 2006.

Age Relaxation

Salary

Selected candidates will receive salary under Pay Level-4 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix:

₹25,500 – ₹81,100 per month

Eligible employees may also receive allowances such as:

• Dearness Allowance
• Ration Money
• Special Compensatory Allowance in specified border areas
• Free accommodation or HRA
• Transport Allowance
• Leave Travel Concession
• Free medical facilities
• Other admissible allowances

Candidates appointed to ITBP may opt for the applicable pension scheme as mentioned in the notification.

Physical Standards

Height and Chest Requirements

Weight should correspond to height and age according to medical standards.

For candidates from Assam, the prescribed minimum height is therefore 165 cm for males and 155 cm for females, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The PET is qualifying in nature.

Male Candidates

Female Candidates

No marks will be awarded for PET. Candidates must qualify in each event. Ex-Servicemen are exempt from PET but must qualify the other applicable stages.

Exam Pattern

Candidates qualifying the Physical Standard Test will appear for a 100-mark objective-type written examination.

The examination may be conducted through OMR or Computer-Based Test (CBT) at the discretion of ITBP.

Duration: 2 Hours

Psychology Syllabus

The 60-mark Psychology section includes:

Minimum Qualifying Marks

• UR, EWS & Ex-Servicemen: 35%
• SC/ST/OBC (NCL): 33%

There will be no negative marking in the written examination.

Male candidates belonging to UR, OBC and EWS categories are required to pay:

The following candidates are exempted from paying the application fee:

• Female candidates

Selection Process

The recruitment process will include the following stages:

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
2. Physical Standard Test (PST)
3. Written Examination
4. Preparation of Merit List
5. Verification of Original Documents
6. Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
7. Review Medical Examination, where applicable

The merit list will primarily be prepared on the basis of marks secured in the written examination among candidates qualifying the preceding stages.

Candidates shortlisted for document verification may be required to produce documents including:

• Educational qualification certificates
• Matriculation/10th certificate for proof of date of birth
• SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificate, if applicable
• OBC Non-Creamy Layer declaration, where applicable
• NOC for candidates serving in Government departments
• Height/chest relaxation certificate, if applicable
• Citizenship/identity supporting documents
• Ex-Servicemen discharge certificate, if applicable
• Four recent passport-size photographs
