AAU Recruitment 2026: Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat, has released Advertisement No. 4/2026 for recruitment to the posts of Assistant Professor & equivalent under the Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Community Science. A total of 60 vacancies are available across various disciplines.

Vacancy Details

Educational Qualification

The educational requirements differ according to the discipline.

General Assistant Professor Posts

For most Assistant Professor disciplines other than Agro-Meteorology, Agricultural Statistics, Agricultural Business Management, Computer Science and Food Science & Technology, candidates must generally have:

• A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Horticulture/Community Science/Veterinary Science as applicable.
• For Sericulture posts, a Bachelor’s degree in Sericulture or Agriculture.
• At least 55% marks or the prescribed minimum CGPA at Master’s degree level in the relevant discipline.
• NET qualification, except where NET is not conducted or where exemption is permitted for eligible Ph.D. holders under the conditions stated in the notification.
• Required minimum Academic Performance Indicator/API score for direct recruitment, as prescribed by AAU.

The notification specifies an API requirement of 44 out of 80 for General candidates and 40 out of 80 for SC/ST candidates, with shortlisted applicants to be called for interview.

Assistant Professor – Agro-Meteorology

• Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics or Meteorology as a major subject, or an appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Veterinary Science/Community Science/Fisheries/Forestry.
• A Master’s degree in Meteorology/Agricultural Meteorology with the prescribed minimum marks/CGPA is also required, together with NET or applicable exemption and the prescribed API score.

Assistant Professor – Agricultural Business Management

• Candidates should possess a suitable Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Community Science, Fisheries, Forestry, Agricultural Engineering or Science.
• At Master’s level, candidates should have the prescribed minimum marks/CGPA in Business Administration, or possess qualifications such as MBA/PGDM from reputed institutions including IIMs, subject to the conditions given in the notification. The notification also mentions two years of working experience in a reputed organization under the specified alternative qualification route.
• NET/exemption and the prescribed API score are also applicable as stated in the advertisement.

Assistant Professor – Agricultural Statistics

• Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Statistics as a major subject, or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Veterinary Science/Community Science/Fisheries/Forestry.
• They must also have a Master’s degree in Statistics/Agricultural Statistics with at least the prescribed marks/CGPA, along with NET or an applicable exemption and the required API score.

Assistant Professor – Computer Science

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Application, Information Technology, Engineering or Science with Computer Science as a major subject.

At the Master’s level, the notification accepts relevant disciplines including:

Candidates must have at least 55% marks or the prescribed minimum CGPA at Master’s level, together with NET or an applicable exemption and the prescribed API requirement.

Assistant Professor – Food Science & Technology

Candidates should have a relevant Bachelor’s degree in Science or an equivalent degree.

At Master’s level, accepted disciplines include areas such as:

• Food Technology
• Food Science & Technology
• Food Engineering
• Dairy Technology
• Post Harvest Technology
• Agricultural Process Engineering
• Equivalent relevant disciplines

Reservation of Posts

• The recruitment notification provides category-wise reservation for UR, OBC, OBC (Tea Tribe), STP, STH, SC and PWD candidates. It also separately indicates reservation for women candidates in several categories.
